everyone , including you , is tuned into W-I-I-F-M. “What’s In It For Me.”

If you don’t have a Headline that immediately shows your visitor just how valuable your site is, then they will leave… QUICKLY.

All advertising billboards, all magazine covers, all Flyers, Brochures and any form of marketing material, all have a massive attention grabbing headline.

It’s the same on the Internet you only have a few seconds to capture your visitors attention, otherwise they are gone… and they AIN’T COMING BACK!

The bad news is that most website don’t even have a Headline…

• Most websites I have looked at are all about the owner or company and how wonderful they are… BORING.
• Then they than go on to show all the products that company has to offer. This is even MORE boring.

With over 25 years experience in sales, I know that prospects don’t care about you, your company or your products. I know that sounds harsh , but it is true. They only care about the outcome.

So create a really strong headline in no more than 25 words, that explains exactly HOW your potential customer will benefit from your products or services.

But, before you pick one, write 10 variations (minimum). A good copy writer would spend days doing this one thing and come up with 100 headlines before they pick on. Writing many gets the creative juices flowing.

Ask your staff to write 5-10 each to get some variations. One of our clients ran an in-house competition and gave a prize to the headline that got the most votes!

This one change to your site can differentiate you from your competition and increase the conversions dramatically.

To give you some ideas, here’s some samples that we’ve tested for our business:

“How often do you hear yourself saying “I’m getting too much business from my website”?”

“It’s a shame you’re not creating floods of business from the Internet – when others do it so easily”

“Discover the TWO Minor Changes You Can Make to Your Website, That Can Make A Major Change to The Amount of Business it Generates For You.”

Feel free to submit your headline to use to evaluate, just hit the contact us button above.

Go to Google and type in the most appropriated keyword for your business, e.g. “Plumber”, “Driving Instructor”, “Dentist”, etc.

Scroll down the list of results to a depth of four or five pages. You’ll see, among the names and websites for businesses in your area, directory listings of those businesses. Some will be the bigger generic directories as in my previous post, such as FreeIndex but if you look carefully you’ll spot directories which are much more specific to your business. See below for an example:

So make a note of these directories and over the next week or so just spend 15-20 minutes each day adding your business details to one or two of these.

Make sure to:

• Check every entry uses consistent details for the business address, especially your Street Name, Post Code and office phone number. Consistency improves your search engine rankings.
• Add as much “Sales Copy” as possible, i.e. why someone should buy from YOU rather than your COMPETITOR (but beware, some directories ban strong advertising or promotion)
• Include the link to your website. These backlinks are important for SEO. So is the publication of your website url in different places online as possible.

The result of which prompted Google to unveil an algorithm update called “FARMER”, in order to ensure that low-quality content farms are not dominating the SERP’s, (that’s the Search Engine Results Pages to you and me). At the moment the update is only going live in the US but will inevitably be a worldwide change.

As a result of these changes many sites have been hit, seeing their Google rankings falling dramatically. So is this the end of using articles as part of our SEO Services to create traffic and links to your site? Probably not, as long as you do it with integrity and add overall value to the World Wide Web.
